Friedrich Schiller – a journey back in time to the era of Classicism

As a young man, Schiller fled from his garrison in December 1782 and came to Thuringia for the first time. For six months, he worked as a librarian in Meiningen before returning to Mannheim. Another 6 years were to pass before he finally moved to Jena and then Weimar. Many of the places where he lived and worked can be visited today. You can learn about the young rebel, magnificent poet and Professor Friedrich Schiller at the historic venues.
